The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) conducts the NEB exam for Pakistani students who wish to migrate to a medical college in Pakistan.

NEB stands for National Equivalence Board. Borad has created the NEB exam syllabus.

The National Medical and Dental Academic Board has developed the structure and standards of the exams.

Exam Schedule

Eligibility

  • Having more than 65% marks in their FSs or HSSC.
  • Qualifying the requisite NEB examination for the 2nd-year transfer from a foreign college.

Important Factors

1. Frequency

This exam will be held at least twice a year.

2. Number of attempts

The exam has an unlimited number of attempts.

3. Validity

2 Years

Exam Format and Structure

The exam consists of 200 MCQs, in which there will be an emphasis on the application of knowledge. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. The following point will be notable for exams.

For transfer in MBBS Year 3:

Candidates will be required to appear in the theory component of the exams only.

For transfer in MBBS Year 4:

Candidates will be required to appear in the theory component of the exams only.

For transfer in MBBS Year 5:

70% or above in both the theory and clinical skills components of the exams.

NEB Examination Standard 3 (Transfer to MBBS Year 3)

Eligiblity

MBBS Year 2 from a PMC-recognized foreign medical college and intends to migrate to MBBS Year 3 at a PMC-recognized medical college in Pakistan.

Disciplines

Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology

MCQ’s Weightage

Anatomy 45%, Physiology 35%, Biochemistry 20%

NEB Examination Standard 4 (Transfer to MBBS Year 4)

Eligiblity

MBBS Year 3 from a PMC-recognized foreign medical college and intends to migrate to MBBS Year 4 at a PMC-recognized medical college in Pakistan.

Disciplines

General Pathology, General Microbiology and Pharmacology

MCQ’s Weightage

General Pathology 25%, General Microbiology 25%, Pharmacology 50%

NEB Examination Standard 5 (Transfer to MBBS Year 5)

Eligiblity

MBBS Year 4 from a PMC-recognized foreign medical college and intends to migrate to MBBS Year 5 at a PMC-recognized medical college in Pakistan.

Disciplines

Special Pathology, Community Medicine, Ophthalmology and ENT

MCQ’s Weightage

Special Pathology 20%, Community Medicine 10%, Ophthalmology 35%, and ENT 35%

Passing Criteria

For transfer in MBBS Year 3

70% or above in the theory component.

For transfer in MBBS Year 4

70% or above in the theory component.

For transfer in MBBS Year 5

70% or above separately in both the theory and clinical skills component.

The candidate has to pass both components. If the candidate fails in one component, he will reappear only in the failed component.

“Successfully clearing the NEB Examination does not guarantee admission to a Pakistani medical college, as it will depend on the availability of seats in the admitting medical college and its admissions policy.”

  1. I am medical student in Kyrgyzstan. Now i am in 2nd year . I am confused. Should i give this exam 🥺. What if anything wrong happen . There will be no choice for me . But I badly want to go to my home country.

  2. I just want to know if fhere is anyone who cleared this exam before or any person whos known have cleared this exam and have any info i am just confused that after clearing is it easy or like whats the probability of getting college after clearing the exam its easy to get or what ???

  4. I have a friend living in Iraq. He is not a Pakistani national but wants to migrate to Pakistan and continue medical studies. He is in 3rd year of his education. Can he apply for this test? If not, is it possible through any other way?
