National Registration Examination (NRE) exam conducted by PMDC for foreign medical and dental graduates. This is an assessment for those seeking licensure or registration in their respective medical discipline.

National Registration Examination Date

The NRE exam will be conducted twice a year. The most expected date of the exam will be August 2024.

National Registration Examination Criteria

NRE eligibility for Medical Graduate

  1. Candidate graduated from PMDC approved foreign medical colleges with an MBBS/MD or equivalent degree (as per the approved foreign degree Nomenclature)
  2. Candidate must have PMDC provisional license

NRE eligibility for Dental Graduate

  1. Candidate graduated from PMDC approved foreign dental colleges with an BDS or equivalent degree (as per the approved foreign degree Nomenclature)
  2. Candidate must have PMDC provisional license

National Registration Examination – NRE Syllabus

NRE Exam Structure

The NRE will consist of two components
(i) a theory component and
(ii) a skill-based, clinical component – Clinical Skills Examination (CSE)

National Registration Examination Passing Criteria

Candidates will have to pass both the theory and the CSE components separately in order to be declared successful in the dental or medical NRE.

The minimum pass percentage in the theory (MCQs) component is 60%, and the minimum pass percentage in the CSE is 60%, including mandatory stations.

A candidate who passes the test can appear in CSE. A candidate who passes the theory test but fails the CSE will only reappear in the CSE exam.

Candidates who fail in there consecutive attempts at CSE will appear in both theory and CSE.

Exam Centers

Generally, the National Registration Examination exam will be held in 5 major cities of the country, i.e., Lahore,Karachi, Islamabad , Rawlapindi and Peshawar. PMDC can conduct it in other cities for candidate ease.
